Contrary to some reports that the new iPad launch is being
delayed to Mar 19, it is still on course to be released on Mar
16.
Apple Australia - which oversees the Singapore market -
confirmed that the new iPad will be launched in Singapore on Mar
16. Ms Fiona Martin, corporate communications director of Apple
Australia, said it was an incorrect wire story that caused the
confusion globally. They are currently working with the reporter to
correct the story.
Singapore will be one of the first 12 countries in the world to
receive the new iPad. Other countries include Hong Kong, Germany,
Australia, the United States (US), France, Canada, Japan,
Switzerland, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom and the US Virgin
Islands.
The new iPad will sport a high resolution display, new A5X chip
with quad-core graphics and a 5-megapixel camera capable of 1080p
video recording. Prices start from $658 for a 16GB Wi-Fi only
version to $1,088 for a 64GB Wi-Fi+4G edition. However, the new
iPad will not be able to support the local 4G network.
