It has definitely something to do with your CPU. Video decoding uses up lots of CPU resources, and you're running on a P4. If it's a H264 vid, you may want to try installing CoreAVC, which is very efficient with decoding H264 videos, for a better playback (it's not free - you need to find your own way of getting it).

As for Flash apps, yes, the performance is also bottlenecked by your CPU, because it runs solely on your CPU and doesn't utilize the graphics card for calculations and graphics rendering before Flash Player 10.1. Try upgrading your Flash player and see if it helps.

bro, i've uninstalled flash and downloaded 10.1 which only run on IE. tested a RC flash from facebook, still lagging as before.

if i get a new cpu, will it 100% solve my flash lags and decoder lags (even if i use the same decoder) ?

downloaded Version 10,0,45,2 on firefox, flash is significantly smoother.. need..to..sleep.. :P

That will depend on what CPU you're getting. If you tell me it's gonna be a Core i7, then I've no qualms that it will work fine for your Flash apps and Naruto vids.

New CPU? Very likely, yes. The reason your laptop have very smooth playback is because it likely belongs to the Core 2 Duo family line, which are very fast compared to Pentium 4 CPUs. A Core 2 Duo, or even a Pentium Dual Core will smash the Pentium 4 to bits by 2 times or more.

Same laptop CPU as I'm using. Yes, it has a WORLD of difference. Your laptop CPU is at least twice as fast as the Pentium 4 your desktop has. I'd say 3 times faster.
