Most probably the hardware of your computer is not dead
However windows xp might be corrupted. You can try to repair
windows by borrowing the same version of windows xp and do a repair
after booting from CD
You cannot use windows vista to reboot the system because xp and
vista are 2 different thing. You can only do a clean reformat if
you want to install vista
What you can do will be to take out the harddisk from the
computer, and plug it into a working computer to retrieve the
data.
If i were you, i will just do an xp repair, if all else fails,
you can only reformat
ALso take note if does your computer keep beeping and not
starting?
Starhub is cable connection, which means it is shared with the
area, it is very hard to reach 8mbps especially when everyone in
your block is using starhub at the same time. (This is also why
starhub tend to lag during peak hours, and when there are little
ppl using it is very fast)
