Sorry cannot reply faster, router spoil XD
For 1k you can get a decent quad-core rig, I wouldn't go for
dual-core now, I if I were you.
But for $600, you can get a pretty good dual-core rig, depends
on parts availability.
And try and re-use everything you have, casing etc. Unless your
computer is a cardboard box with everything inside
Would you prefer AMD or Intel?
AMD right now I'd go for Phenom II 940 3.0 GHz
ASUS M2N68-AM Plus + Phenom II 940 = $401
$40 for 4GB? More like 2GB bro!
4GB Dual-channel Team Elite DDR2-800 = $82 (Kingston ValueRAM is
$2 cheaper XD)
Seagate 32MB Cache 500GB HDD = $88
GPU: It really depends on what resolution you play at. No use
getting a 4870 to play at 1440x900 right?
I heard that TSMC managed to produce more 40nm chips, so you
should see more shops stocking the 4770.
So, Its either the HD4770, HD4830 or the HD4850. I'd say 4770 if
you can find one, since they can out perform the 4850 in some
situations. Plus, you don't need such a badass PSU and they can
overclock further.
4770: $189
4830: $159
4850: $179
PSU: Andyson 80PLUS PSUs. More efficient, more savings for you.
The 650W PSU should do fine. $135
For a grand total of: $895 (4770)
$885(4850)
$865 (4830)
Assuming you don't need a new casing, monitor, keyboard, mouse
etc.
Hmm, 4Gb ram really $40 leh .. I prefer Intel.
