Nasi lemak in sg is best SG

if i want to change laptop mainboard to a higher spec one, will there by any prblem with the casing overheat?

or other problems like bios not recognising laptop screen ect?

PWNED32 SG

Don;t think so. best to ask around first. About the overheating its nothing. Just to the fact on what your doing most? Like play game ect...

i just need one with nvidia, now i using intel x1300. does not overheat...

PWNED32 SG

Just use cooler lorzz

Changing mainboard not as simple as you say. Cooling, must be sufficient. Space, must have. Later wanna put new GPU, then no space, how? Actually, you want to upgrade mainboard, might as well get new laptop nia. Difficult, expensive, and not always got space. WHats your laptop? Chances are, since it has integrated Graphics, there is no PCI-E interface or slot for GPU.

Raraken, Any website to recommend laptops gfx card. Singapore want.

1st thing, your laptop need the proper slot: MXM slot. Then, have the different form factors: Type I, Type II, Type III and HE. Bigger cards wont work in smaller slots, but some smaller cards will work in bigger slots.

2nd issue: Cooling: You know about this, anyway

Laptop GPU very hard to find in SG. Never saw before, actually. If you want, you need paralell import from overseas distributor. Google MXM-Upgrade. They have 3/4 models on sale, from 8400M GT, 8600M GT GDDR2, 8600GT GDDR3 and ATI Radeon HD3650

u can custom build from spare parts...but not reliable. Some people ask others to do it for them, and then the laptop melt becuase of heat. Unless u are expert u can do it yrself by those DIY guides in google.

or u go to buy online from website where u can customise before buying.

PWNED32 SG

Yeh but asking them to fix for me? i'm super lazy.

but let me warn u the best gaming laptop cannot match the desktop PC gaming.

3d games like crysis on laptop will not perform as well as on a desktop with the same specs..

gaming laptop is ideal for those RPG, strategy or games like diablo, wow ect.

I went to Funan:

Saw this Acer 18-incher, Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0GHz, 1066MHz FSB

Full HD 1080p 18-inch Display

4GB DDR3 RAM

Dual 500GB HDDs in RAID 0

Mobility Radeon HD4670 512 MB (Mainstream GPU) (Sort of like 9600GT for laptops)

3k+, but under 3.5k, IIRC

Then got this Gateway FX laptop, under 3k

2.4GHz P8600

4GB DDR3

17-inch screen (Resolution unknown)

1GB GeForce 9800M GT(X/S)

@Nasi lemak: RPG, strategy games can play with integrated graphics lei. Crysis is a bad example to compare desktops and laptops. Most desktops will suffer and cry when you try play Crysis on them.

Some laptops have been released the the mother of all mobile GPUs, GTX 280M in SLI. Quad-core, 4GB DDR3, multiple SSDs in RAID 0. I saw this laptop online, but for US customers only.

Also, what 17-incher you using? I can try see if you can upgrade or not, or if your lappie lost cause liao.
