for free security programs, i have used Avast (about 5 yrs until
now on computer A), AVG (about 4 yrs until
now on computer B), ZoneAlarm (about 5 yrs until now on computer
A), Spybot (about 4 yrs until now on computer A). i have never
heard of Comodo. others which i have used previously on older
computers include Norton Antivirus, McAfee and Windows
Antivirus
Nikar 3, indeed Avast slows the computer quite a lot, and,
Lorry`, Avast like any other good anti-virus program will
continuously do background scanning priorities for suspicious
activities, thus we can’t prevent anti-virus program from slowing
down our system without letting it do a good job
Avast’s virus definition update is also not as fast as
AVG, but it could also maybe due to the
different specifications of my 2 different PCs
After using them both before, I have become to prefer
AVG over Avast
ZoneAlarm is another fellow which uses great amount of system
resources, but it indeed does a good work of blocking all sorts of
anonymous high-risk and medium-risk port attacks
Before you install ZoneAlarm, download Adaware and get rid of
all adware and spyware and trojan horses first
Spybot runs on little memory and I also do not see it’s good
points yet so far. It seems to be a quiet working guy which i do
not deal with often :-)
