what is discrete?
hmm, my laptop not lag, but kind of slow in everything.

Discrete graphics, is the Graphics card is seperated from the
mobo. They have their own memory, no need to use system RAM.
Integrated, is built into the chipset. They only have very little
memory, usually 8MB of their own. The rest they 'kope' from your
RAM. That's why, if you have say 3GB of RAM, you cannot use all of
it, since your Integrated GPU is using it a framebuffer.
Examples:
Integrated: Intel GMA950, X3000, X3100, X4500M ,X4500MHD etc.,
AMD HD3200, Xpress 1200/1250, NVidia 8200,
Discrete: ATi HD3470, HD4560, HD2400, Nvidia 9300, 9500, G105M
(Mine yay), and so on.
As for the laggy-ness, please defrag your com, check for
background processes. Try use 64-bit Vista so all 4GB of RAM is
used.
