Been using Singtel for xubuntu since last year. The speedstream
modem and now the 2wire one both works fine for me.
Btw, to get the default passphrase, see the line below the first
barcode for the 2wire one. I never noticed it and had to ask my bro
to use the installation cd in windows to get the passphrase. After
that went to forward port and then notice the instruction cos the
modem doesn't come with a manual.
