Hi all, mine's a Compaq Presario V3000 running Winxp SP2.
I pressed the power button, heard a pop sound (like 'boom',
sounds like turning on the stove), and the monitor blacked out.
Tried turning on and off again, waiting a few hours and retrying,
but monitor refuses to turn on.
The hard drive orange light turns on for a while after hitting the
power button, then turns off. I tested both with battery power and
with adapter, shouldn't be an adapter problem.
Worse still, I tested with my school projector (hooked the
projector wire to the computer), projector showed nothing.
What should I do? It's pretty old, I don't really want to repair
it because I already have a replacement netbook. Is there any way
to recover the data? Like can I pluck out the hard drive and access
from another computer? Or is it a hard drive problem?
