Taiwan Triads are
already operating all throughout South East Asia, even
Singapore.These triads are using women,drugs,hypnotism,potions and
many more to influence or manipulate businessmen.Triads spread
violence and organized crime in every country where it
exists.
TRIAD GANGS ARE BACKED by a
compelling mythology. They emerged centuries ago as secret
societies sworn to oust the alien Manchus from China and reinstall
the Ming dynasty. Operating under a strict code of loyalty, triads
were regarded as jaunty bands of patriotic scoundrels who employed
guerrilla tactics against evil forces. But such a beneficent image
is long since outdated, perpetuated only in the movies, which, in
Hong Kong and Taiwan at least, are believed to be dominated by the
triads' latter-day descendants. Indeed, there is little that is
romantic about the gangs' challenge to authority today. It consists
of drugs, prostitution and gambling, as well as pyrotechnics from
the occasional public shootout or gangland slaying.
And the influence of triads has spread wide. In Taiwan, they now
wield significant political clout. New Zealand's police chief said
just recently that his men were in danger of losing control over
triad activity in his country. Mounting gangland capers are
reported as far away as the United States and Russia. The triads
are also diversifying their activities, especially into legitimate
businesses such as entertainment, food, interior design and even
property development and management. In Hong Kong, the local
Association of Banks three years ago warned its members against
employing triad-linked organizations to collect debt on their
behalf. Even so, reputable companies continue to do so. The
gangsters may even be menacing the territory's freedom of
expression. When a top local editor had his arm severed recently by
suspected triads after his magazine published an underworld exposé,
alarmed journalists raised $650,000 to offer as a reward for
information leading to the capture of the culprits
