Katong Silverbowl League - Roll off 28th Nov 2002

Player1,

That equation will only work if you're playing against a scratch opponent, ie 0 handicap. Which isn't really likely, unless we're playing against 4 scratch bowlers, and/or we field 4 max handicap bowlers. Which is even unlikelier.

The oiling is actually not heavy on the outside. In fact, it's a rather clean backend and thin outsides on league nights. You may be referring to your ball's late breakpoint, or failure to turn enough to the pocket.

2 things:

1) You favour an inside line, more often than not. You make your ball travel through the oil in the middle part of the lane first, so this extra sliding in the oil will cause your ball to sometimes skid past or go outside of the optimum break point.

2) A Shock Zone was built for length and snap. Skid is already imbued into the coverstock, you certainly didn't need to help it by moving so deep so quickly.

Perhaps it will be better for you to start outside and shoot a straighter line almost parallel to the gutter, and move in as necessary. Play what the lane gives you, rather than trying to overpower it.

Congratulations Mr. Green Now, let's all work harder to reduce our personal handicaps shall we Question Cool

prataman SG

Great!! Let's do just that.

Why do I get the feeling that sometimes we don't have the whole team focused on the task at hand? Let's correct that, shall we?

Let's see it this Thursday!

Ding SG

Onz Exclamation We shall see that Cool

Power Torq SG

Yah balls! I SHALL need to do tat! CHEERS! And I"LL do that! Shocked Evil or Very Mad

Ding SG

Hey Kev, do there have bowling alleys in camp Question Laughing

prataman SG

Think about it, Kevo.

Only 3 people in the team averaging 170 so far in Katong, and only 2 in Classic. Both out of 12.

Perhaps that's a big burden to place on a rookie, my friend.

airgrinder SG

That number is going to rise. Althought I have much less league experience, I believe that number is going to rise. Everyone will do their best. Same goes to both leagues. Cool

Player1 SG

i noe i noe...i just joking about squashing ppl with handicap scores.
of cos i wanna beat them flat out and lower my handicap.
hopefully i can maintain a higher standard of playing during league games.
Then I'll be able to get high scores!

Only 3 people in the team averaging 170 so far in Katong, and only 2 in Classic. Both out of 12.

I should be in that bracket as well... *sigh* I'm trying my best to give backup to the abovementioned bowlers such as Hawk and Prataman so that they don't have so much burden all the time anchoring the rest of the team for overall pinfalls. I always seem to blank out for one game out of the series.

prataman SG

Ouch! Mad

Managed to mildly sprain my ring finger during my Monday Katong League. Crying or Very sad

Was due to my tucking of pinky (thus stretching the ring finger) and it got stretched that bit too far tonight. Switched to a no-tuck release the rest of the way. About 12 frames to go when the pull occurred.

Hopefully will recover by this Thursday! Will keep you informed if any changes to be had....

Ding SG

Don't force yourself too much mate. It's better to take things easy & let it recover... I'll be ever willing to be the replacement killer Twisted Evil

ha ha ha Mr. Green

prataman SG

Shucks. Fingers still hurt. Confused

I will be replaced in the lineup by Kevin Phua.

Ding SG

It's been a while since I saw Kevin Phua played... it's time for him to strike Cool

Good job, gentlemen!

We managed to garner 11 points against 5th placed "Bowling Unlimited". Btw, we're a dismal 10th place. May have moved a slot or even 2, but we'll see.

Kudos to everyone for a never say die attitude, and team game wise it got pretty close at the end. Unfortunately we lost overall pinfall count by just 5. I'm sure that our guys knew we could have done much much better! Except WX, of course, who did a magnificent job.

Hayden got 2 points, Jay Soong had 3 and WX had a clean sweep 4pts with a good 184 avg. Phua-man unfortunately got 0 points. We won the 1st and 3rd team games, total 11. Great job. Got a tough run coming up, we faced the 3rd and 4th placed teams (as of this week) in the next fortnight.

As of now, the projected lineup next week (9/1) comprises of:
Tom/Brendan, Dinghua, Weixiang/Jay and myself.

Projected lineup week after (16/1) comprises of:
Tom/Brendan, Titan, Jae, Weixiang/Jay

Sorry for the uncertainty, have to check availability with individual players.

Freemun SG

Alright chums,

Tested out the finger 2 days back, and it's not all good. There's not much strength in the ring finger, which means I fail to extend through the ball properly (no length). To cut a long story shot, I missed to the left of target about 90% of the time, and missed every pin 10 leave but one. Hell, I have enough problem extending through the ball even without this finger injury. Crying or Very sad

Anyways, changes to the lineup then!

This week's lineup, and I have confirmed with all 4, are:

1) Phua
2) Brendan
3) Ding
4) WX

Our senior citizens (with the exception of James) do battle then!

Next week (16th) will comprise of, and I have also confirmed with all, are:

1) Tom
2) Titan
3) Jae
4) Myself

Please let me know if you can't make it or don't wish to play, I'll find replacements Smile

Ding SG

Seasoned bowlers, let's kick some ass Twisted Evil

Well, I suppose the guys are slogging it out at Katong SilverBowl now...good luck guys!
Me have not bowled in last 2 weeks due to SIM Futsal Tournament.
Ended this evening at 6.30pm and our team made it all the way to the final!!! Too bad we lost to SIM-RMIT on the golden goal rule... a shot going wide intercepted finely by a header and they scored.. Crying or Very sad
Nevertheless, ended already. Next week can go back to bowling....

jae SG
