HDD help!

hi people,

i got some problem wif my hard disk, everytime i switched on the com, den at the screen where it says ctrl+alt+esc to enter setup & f12 to boot menu, the hdd got a funny sound, den the screen will hang dere

after which it will go to a modular bios page or something(not sure wad u call dat page), and say the primary master hdd fail

is dere any advice on how to deal wif it?

go into your bios and check if your hdd can still be detected.

this is the time that the value of making regular backups is being emphasized...

U can try rebooting many times and see if U get lucky...can detect HDD doesnt mean it will work...although cannot detect HDD means confirm cannot work....

if U have experience with Linux...can also try booting from a Live CD and see if U can copy out ur files from there.

in your bios (depending) there should be a hdd self diagnostic test.

If the % bar is not responding and takes ages, and failure message appears.

it would appear that your hdd has problems reading, and it could be various reasons which i will explain later.
