Maybe you tell him that your old Operating System is no longer supported and is now a security risk. It's to dangerous to do online banking or to do any financial transactions. The chance of getting a piece of malware or spyware is too high.

The new OS requires a much more powerful computer to run it. Furthermore, a new PC is quite affordable now compared to the past. Also, LCD monitors draw less power and emit less radiation than CRT monitors.

mine is 1Ghz celeron, 512MB SDRAM, ATI1600 graphic (256MB). still ok la. but new games cannot play liao. haha....already 5 years plus. still working strong as i do maintainence and upgrades it. from Window ME to XP. haha...

I have a AMD64x2 2800 with 2GB of RAM, 2x160GB HDD, and a Nvidia 6800GT and I can't play the newest games either.

I can have many windows open when surfing pron though. :p

risky, later hardware spoil cannot retrieve data

im on 2.00ghz amd athlon XP, 1gb ram, Nvidia geforce 4 MX with AGP 8X, running strong, from ME to XP, regular maintainece is the key to long life.

2. A newer computer, especially the Core2Duos or a Laptop, uses significantly less power than a pentium III 1Ghz, or other processors when judged by a power to processing ability ratio

3. New computers are dirt cheap these days. $1000 is enough to get you a computer, although without fanciful graphics card lar.

If you are really interested, then it's OK. Multimedia designing courses also need a relatively good computer as well, as those apps are known to eat a lot of resources.

A lamer reason would be that if you get the latest one, you save on upgrades. You can use it for a long time before buying another one? Tio boh? Laughing
