But you don't need that much power if you are just writing or taking notes. I think the screen is a bit small for web surfing. I will probably get the 8.9 i...

Just curious.

I am thinking of modding mine.

Really mama? SG

I reckon its not worth modding. Asus is considered a ‘disposable’ brand.

My cousin’s had an Asus for more than a year now and he’s been very happy with it. The trouble is that I doubt it’s the same model as yours.

if u want to buy iphone or ipod touch, buy this instead…

Mine is running XP . I just need to either 1. Flash the bios or 2. Hope for an upgrade of bios so that I can go buy a 2 gig ram module.

fymk SG

Doubt that. This one is the latest and it is very very small with an 8' inch screen. Got it for AUD510 inclusive of extended 3 year warranty in Australia.

Purrs like a kitten except when I try to run massive stats programs on it. Microsoft office 2003 runs smoothly on 512mb ram

Really mama? SG

Oh, those kind of mods. Getting a ram upgrade is a good idea. Flashing the bios isn’t.

It's quite hard to mod a small PC. I personally have no preference for anything that is micro.

But the specs is good enough for everyday applications, so long as you don't max out its potential.

fymk SG

yeah I know I risk destroying the bios chip.

Maybe after the warranty expires , I will try it . It's kinda cool though - I got a 160gig external drive which stores my other windows software. Kind of exciting.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

LOL, I don't know if you are crazy or something.

Really mama? SG

fymk..did you get it from DSE?

fymk SG

I got it from ebay actually. The guy didn't want his white asus because he got a black eee pc as a gift from his daughter. I was abit suspicious at first but it turned out ok . It is the 7A series which stocks an extra mini pci-e socket that 7B and 7c does not have. He didn't realise the value of it .

It was from Myers - the price of a new 7B/7C (they don't stock 7a anymore) is 499 minus the extra mini pci-e slot and additional 41.95 for extended warranty. So I guess I got a bargain for the very first time on ebay.

fymk SG

What can I say - I love my new eee pc . And btw , I am actually using it online to type a response ( with keyboard attached ), of course.

DSE was selling Asus EEE with diff specs for around $500. Compared to yours, yours is better with the 160gb hdd. I was really sceptical and I thought it was some old stock from 2-3 years ago that did not managed to sell.

Well, good on you. You may pick up more bargains if you searched under 'unwanted gifts, xmas, ex-gf/bf' Laughing

Urm my 160 gb harddisk is external drive - excluding the base cost of 510 bucks of my asus. The value of my 4Gb asus eee pc is that it has a second mini PCI e slot. So if the SSD fails , I can slot in another SSD into the second and run it as the primary unlike the 7b/7c ones which cost the same.

My asus is only 4G , 512 mb ram. Smile . Mini little play thing.

Really mama? SG

god! thats the same model! I thought it was for pre-school or kindy kids since we are now in the IT stage and all that..

um, nvm..as long as you're happy.

fymk SG

Yes but the 7a series is better than the 7b or 7c series because of that extra mini PCIe slot. And costs the same ! LOL. It is better than an Iphone or an apple ipod in the sense that it costs the same yet it can do more than those two can.
