lets say if i change my compaq laptops ram.. will my free warranty still last??

Sorry, you will kill the laptop instead.

I've got first hand experience with that.

Get HP/Compaq to change for you. For one reason or another, HP/Compaq hardware and software are extremely sensitive to changes. Done wrongly, there goes the laptop. Done correctly, it goes too.

Partly it's due to the way HP/Compaq sets things. One would wonder why they do things certain way. Rolling Eyes

erm, i checked with HP when i went bought my lappie down to fix my keyboard. The technician asked me to head down to simlim to upgrade my ram. No point changing it there as it's very expensive. 2x 1gb = $100+ as quoted.

Compaq told me the same thing. The technician upgraded it, and poof! Can't boot up. Got a new laptop from Compaq.

Then I went to test out on another spare HP PC. And imagine my surprise. I killed that PC too. I've got no idea why.

funny.. y my compaq laptop, tat time when i redeem my laptop at funan, i requested to upgrade my ram from 1gb to 2gb, they removed 2×512mb and add 1gb ram x2.. nothing happens.. the laptop jus detect the new ram tats all.. is it i plain luck? or they use back the same brand? which is Adata?

Ya. I know.

But from experience, I wouldn't let any 3rd party technicians to upgrade... even myself won't touch it. It's not just the luck. It's just HP. They do things differently, which resulted in failures.

Perhaps... maybe the technicians know. I wouldn't have known if I've not killed a few HP PCs this way.
