ChairmanJay SG is there any softwares that i can use to track the people who is using my router? i tried a program but it can seems to find my notebook(i'm another com to track this notebook). anyone can help? thanks. PS. I read about packet sniffing, is it possible to get others info through wifi which is under the same LAN as me?
Shotgun SG Theres usually a section where you can see who are the recent clients. Look out for any MAC address that aren’t familiar.
ndmmxiaomayi SG Vista. Haha All Vista users are not admin unless elevated. Write batch file and right click on the batch file and select Run As Administrator.
ChairmanJay SG haha thanks. but.. now timeout: unknown linktype = 0 (expected ethernet or wifi> --graceful exit--
ndmmxiaomayi SG If it doesn't work, it's either Vista issue or something else. As libpcap is an open-sourced project, a lot of things, especially wireless simply don't work well.
Shotgun SG To packet sniff ppl using your wireless router? I'd tell you, but I'm not sure if you're using it to scam others or not. I saw an SSID broadcasting [email protected] in my condo before. I suspect someone was trying to steal information by hopefully getting people to connect to their network.
ChairmanJay SG i wouldn't do that. i just wanna find out who is cracking the password of my router and accessing without my permission.
ndmmxiaomayi SG A new education program should start. [email protected] need you to log in before you can use it. Whoever connects to it without verification you can jolly well figure out how some of things are changed.
ndmmxiaomayi SG Get NetStumbler and install it. It will find a lot of networks around. If you find some network with the same SSID as yours, different MAC address... it's not cracking your router's password... it's another attack... it's a rogue access point.
Shotgun SG Yeah. But a lot of people leave set their wifi to auto-connect to [email protected] I stumbled into it when I was connecting from home. Instead of connecting to my own wireless network, I saw that I was connected to [email protected] Nope, there wasn't any log in screen, cos I saw my MSN connect. Besides, its also entirely possible to fake a [email protected] log in page, and redirect victims to it to make them THINK they logged in. Serves to harvest [email protected] accounts too if u ask me.
