Look when the two disk are separated, and does not touch one
another, and therefore power is not transmitted to the wheels, does
it matter how far apart they are? Do not worry about the internal
workings of the car.
What you should concern yourself about is how far you need to step
on the clutch pedal to disengage the clutch, and where, when you
slowly raise your left foot, you feel the two disc comming
together. You go by feel, so that on the slope, you know when to
release your handbrake and accelerate without rolling back.
