BillGates SG Hi all, I just got a laptop and the first thing it asked me to to is to login. The prob is that this is the first time I on it and I have no user name or password! Now I'm stuck. can here? Hi Mod, I'm in Chit chat cos I need help. pls don't transfer me to other forums. thanks...
RvnRooRon84 SG The best thing (and only thing to do I think) is to go back to the place of purchase and ask them. A friend of mine got her laptop from Courts and she got the same thing. We went back to the place and we gave them a piece of our mind; saying things like this was a 'used' laptop, used for display, etc etc.. And they gave us a new one on the spot..lol
alleggerita SG x2 You are Bill Gates leh..you designed Windows Vista yourself..you should know how to solve this problem yourself ba?
ndmmxiaomayi SG Go back to the shop and ask. Either way, put in the CD or press some buttons. It will restore everything back to default state without those usernames and prompt you to add one yourself. By the way, you should your username. It's becoming some joke.
LatecomerX SG Anyway, tikam abit la. Sometimes, the default user is not deleted when the system is sold to a consumer. Try entering admin/admin, admin/ or administrator/ as the username/password and see if you are able to sign in.
kenn3th SG The title is abit deceiving as it's not even a problem It's not a login problem actually, just that it's a password prompt If it's a "new" set that the dealers/ u actually claimed, it's impossible as for every new computer/laptop there's a setup. where you key in your details wadadada. SUGGESTION: Go back to the dealer.
ndmmxiaomayi SG Vista can't see Administrator user. No matter what buttons you press. See Kenneth's Vista thread to activate the Admin user. But since he can't log in, I doubt if he could even activate it. And those freaking dealers always have some weird passwords... seems like some internal generated password... all PCs different... not the common ones (I tried the common passwords cracking method before...)
kenn3th SG when there's a will, there's a way. For HP's laptops, you just need to press f11 when you are booting up to go to the recovery software then you just do recovery, reformat, and then setup! you do not needa login at all and you can change the password
ndmmxiaomayi SG I wonder if Safe Mode will show the Admin user? XP will show the Admin user, not sure for Vista. If it shows, tell him go Safe Mode, log in to Admin and delete away the user and create another one.
kenn3th SG But i think billgates should go back to the dealer. not really worth it if u take a 3 months on display laptop.
AndrewPKYap SG He said: “I just got a laptop ”... doesn’t say that he got it from a dealer… otherwise, all he needs to do is call the dealer and that is why he is asking for help here.. making the “source” of where he got his laptop questionable… I am still waiting for him to clarify….
