There's no such thing as bla bla bla field is bad or good. It's
rather, the developments that affect a particular field.
In IT, the developments are very rapid. All the time, you will
basically find some outdated info, finding yourself needing
upgrades of some sort, how to use this, how to use that, how to
deploy this, how to deploy that, etc.
If you don't think you can keep up with such pace, IT is not a
place for you.
When people think IT, they also think of costs. You are not talking
to humans, but machines. When they don't work, you are in heaps of
troubles. Your boss expects them to work, no failures of any sorts
and keep the costs low. That's why they use IT - because it
automates nearly every task, so I can hire fewer people.
The same reason is applied to IT jobs as well. If you can do your
job well, but commands a higher salary than someone else who does
just as good, you will be out. It's how competitive this field is.
But of course, if you do very well, then everyone will want
you.
It's a challenging field, as well as a competitive one, not to say
an idiotic one (when you really meet one), a fun one (there's a lot
to play with when you are plain bored) as well as a stressful one.
You will find joy today, tomorrow you will find pain.
