My favourite brand is not Sony, and after 2 big hoohaa over
their products, I won't ever own any products made by Sony. So
HD-DVD is my answer.
Other than the big hoohaas, cost is another factor. For the extra
space to cost more is OK. But because it uses different technology
to drive that extra space up, uses another technology to protect,
uses yet another technology for other stuffs, all these add up.
Plus here and there, I seriously don't see the benefits of owning a
Blu-ray disc.
Even without costs, some other odd factors made me side with HD-DVD
as well.
1. The company that patents Blu-ray actually sits in HD-DVD
Promotion Group company. Irony? You think?
2. Apple, who supports Blu-ray, has one of its own division, DVD
Studio Pro supporting HD-DVD.
And the last thing which turns me off is Java. Java is a MUST to
run Blu-ray discs. Extremely extra. If I can't get something to run
properly because I don't have XXX, the company can forget about me
supporting it.
