orionlight SG AM2 socket is the way, 939 socket EOLed since last year. There’s very few choices left on the market.Besides that, most of the S939 mobo still use the obsolete AGP graphics card.Very room for future upgrade if you choose S939
ndmmxiaomayi SG Hmm... AM2. Kind of reluctant as it doesn't really offer much improvements over the socket 939 mobos. But market also don't have much 939 mobos left.

airgrinder SG my desktop is the AMD althon chip. Dunno what chip it is. me supporter of AMD all the way, after my first pentium Pro PC. hoho but my laptop is intel
ndmmxiaomayi SG Laptops I support Intel. PC I support AMD. AMD, for some reasons, seem to be hotter on laptops and cooler on PCs.
orionlight SG I agree the new Core 2 Quad runs quite hot, but core 2 duo runs reasonably cool. The Heat to performance ratio of Core 2 duo is definitely better than AMD
kenn3th SG got relations Processor and the operating system too, like for vista, the processor is hotter where as in xp cooler
ndmmxiaomayi SG Agree. Core 2 with Vista is almost like Pentium M with XP. But still not as hot as AMD.
xXMugenXx SG how hot is an AMD in a laptop??? me got 82degrees when playing dota using Windows XP+Core2Duo T5500 1.66Ghz xD so can someone define hot??? xD no lah but i dont mind the hotness,i only wanna know good ? lag ? slow ? alot of problem ? anyone?
ndmmxiaomayi SG Anything higher than 70 is hot for me. Ideally, it shouldn't hit more than 60. Max to go is 65.
