furb SG Buy 2 equal size rams only if your motherboard support Dual Channel. If not, just buy one 2GB will solve your problem.
LatecomerX SG A single 2GB DDR2 RAM still cost around $150 - $200 as of now. Definitely not worth it as compared to 1GB sticks.
LatecomerX SG O ok, I have misread your message, sorry. They cost around $85 at the moment. Here's a list of pricelists that you may want to look at. http://sls.vr-zone.com/
jr.spikey SG Oh yeah just saw it. Popped to the top of the list. D= Sorry! But it is recommended by a recent digital life issue too. By the way, what about DDR 3? Higher latency?
jr.spikey SG Hmm what is dual channel? If my motherboard does not support dual channel and I get 2 equal-sized RAM sticks, will the full potential of the RAM be compromised? What will be the difference if I get a 2GB RAM stick instead?
ndmmxiaomayi SG No compromise, just that you won't get to enjoy the benefits of having dual channel RAM slots. And getting 2 equal sized RAM sticks will only lessen the amount of RAM.
jr.spikey SG What are the benefits? Lessen? As in 2X1GB not equivalent to 1X2GB ? Something like dual core not equals to 200% output? Or is it just use up more RAM slots, thus lesser sticks can be installed in the future?
ndmmxiaomayi SG http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/133 For someone whose motherboard can support dual channel, RAM can be effective used and therefore have performance gains.
