It's normal. I found that out through Google when I first
installed a DVD drive. During then, I was perplexed by Windows when
they label it as a CD drive when I have just inserted a blank
DVD.
Assuming yours is a DVD+-RW drive, since Windows doesn't have a
built-in DVD burning software, you'll need one like Nero installed
in order to burn DVDs.
