ndmmxiaomayi SG This one destroys the hard disk, not format. You can try a low level format. I have to warn though, it can damage a hard disk. Either that, find a program that will overwrite it several times.
manyu882 SG aiya.. nothing is very safe. someone might have invented a program which scans VERY VERY VERY x 1000 deeply into the harddisk and extracts data but chances is very very very very very slim. best to keep it for yourself though

unclebutcher SG off topic, but i heard bookies and other high tech illicit activities, they put ultra concentrated hydrochloric acid on top of their HDDs, so when police come they simply burn their HDDs. true?

zhizhong07 SG Hi, If you really don't want anyone to access your data, the safest is to keep it to yourself, as nowsaday hard disk price is really cheap.
hisoka SG doesn't make sense since they can jsut use a magnet. and they can always say they accidentally put it there. magnets are commonplace unike HCL
ndmmxiaomayi SG No use. Unless the metal melted, it's recoverable. You can't burn metals the normal way. They have a high melting point.
