Microsoft outlook problem

SpeedStar SG

Hi guys,

I cant rx mails that are send by myself through the SMTP server. Try to send to my colleague and they cannot rx it either. But I can rx mail from pop3 server.

Previously the system administrator have send me back an error message saying my mail is not send. But now no error message at all. I try to send mail thorugh the web based mail and it works.

DO u guys know what could be the cause? I verify the SMTP server path is correct as I tried used that to send mail before and it works too, until yesterday when I use adware to get rid of spyware. Could it be something to do with adware? Neutral

Can you check that the settings are entered correctly:

Incoming is using POP3. Usually the address is something like this: pop3.example.com

Outgoing is using SMTP. Usually the address is something like this: mail.example.com

If it requires you to log in securely, check that the options are enabled. Whether via SSL or TLS. Check with your system administrator or the company's intranet to see if there are any documentations to help you set up the mail client to send and receive mail correctly.

Also make sure that your firewall doesn't block them. SMTP without any secure connections use port 25, with secure connection, it uses other ports.

usually it is pop rather than pop3

try using an empty password/no password, or log in to SMTP server securely to send mail.

MS Outlook or Outlook Express?

MS Outlook:

1. Tools > Options

2. Select Mail Setup tab

3. Select Add new email account, then configure the settings

Outlook Express:

1. Tools > Accounts

2. Select Mail tab

3. Click on Add, then configure the settings

i added a new email account this way

but still doesnt show up as different folders

AndrewPKYap SG

create different windows user login accounts and and link your different incoming mails to each (one) of the accounts and they will not get mixed up.

If you are using VISTA, you can switch between accounts without logging out anyone of them.

i rem not so ma fan one

Hmm... wait, I go test.

I don't use outlook... but if the function is available, you can "filter" your incoming mails so that:

If
To [email protected],

then send to xxxx folder

If
To [email protected]

then send to yyy folder

but like I said, I do not know if your email client can do that.

laurence82 SG

err, anyone can help?

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Still can’t find out how to do that.
