Password protected powerpoint on Mac

Hi guys, can help me with this. Im using Mac office, but am having problem opening a ppt file that has password protection. can’t even open as read-only (able to do so on pc). Any idea on how to go about opening this file? Any ppt viewer that you can recommend? Thanks in advance =)

You can’t open a password protected in whatever mode, even with an external viewer without cracking it. If somebody sent you the file, ask him/her for the password. If it’s your own file, you have to crack your head hard to remember what password you used.

thanks for the reply.. the lecturer ask us to open it as 'read-only'.. dunno why he set the password. I can still view it as read-only on PC, but not on my Mac. Neutral

Heh? That's possible? I've not experienced it before. Can you ask him just set the file to read-only and sent it to back to you.

Or since you are using Mac, do you have MS Office? Maybe you could try opening with MS Office.

yup.. when i open the ppt, it will request for password, but we can click on 'read-only' to view. and yah I do have MS Office for Mac. The error is sth like: Powerpoint cannot open this document. This doc might use advance encryption and is not supported. So just wondering if there's any viewer for me to just to view the slides. If not then it's alright, i can print it in somewhere else LOL =)

I wonder if he used Office 2007, because Office 2007 documents will produce such errors when opened with older versions of MS Office. I'm not so acquainted with Mac softwares, someone else will help you out. Smile
