Windows Folder View Options - suddenly in Malay words

I've a problem.

I plugged in a CF card into my computer, and I couldn't open the DCIM file.

Then my Folder View options and advanced setting suddenly became Malay words.

Can anyone help me? Shocked Shocked

I guess I could, but I never realize that a card is so powerful.

Assuming that you are using XP.

1. Start > Control Panel, double click on Regional and Language Options

2. Select the Advanced tab

3. Under Language for non-Unicode Programs, select English - United States from the drop-down list. That's Windows default.

4. Click OK to apply the settings. You may need to restart the computer for changes to take effect.

Hmm it was already English- United States.

I cant open anything on my CF card.. but i can open my folders in my computer.

I don't know what happen to your CF card... it may need special software, although most cards don't need it.

DCIM files... I assume they are images?

Yeah..images..of a press conference... (I can't afford to lose them)

and now my laptop is quite slow.. i tried opening that CF on my desktop and the same thing happened there.

Oh yes, during startup, I got this message.

Windows Update (6300-NGSRP-TMR521A-SMG-542PH-3180) . Check system setting or upgrade system.Maybe your system not full patch .System still safe. www.microsoft.com PATCH CODE : AS3-CTRKEA-SR.

that part stood out like a sore thumb..

Here's a screenshot of what I was talking about. Is it something like IndoVirus A or Brontok?

My comp doesn't have symptoms of the above two viruses though..

This is causing me a lot of distress right now... sigh. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give..

This stumps me. I have never seen this error before. Microsoft isn't of much help. I got a feeling it's to do with the CF card, although I'm not 100% sure about it. Confused

LazerLordz, I need you to verify certain things for me

1. Check if you can run Command Prompt (Start > Run and type in cmd)

2. Check if you can run Registry Editor (Start > Run and type in regedit)

3. Check if you can run Task Manager (Start > Run and type in taskmgr)

Yeap, I have no problem with those three.

I actually deleted all the registry entries for scvhost.exe, astry.exe, fotoku.exe and DCIM.exe.

Found out it was some Indonesian virus. But the Malay words in the menu still remain as of now....

For my desktop, it has the same problem except that after the fake Windows Update window appears, I click to log in and am logged out automatically.

I guess I was right. Your screenshot reminded me of the Malay virus I posted. This tool may help, but to what extent, I have no idea. I never had a case which changed the settings.

Please download SmitFraudFix.exe by S!Ri and save it to the desktop.

I've decided to reformat the desktop and the laptop.
