Is the difference between core 2 duo and core duo significant?

My sis just bought a levono laptop but mistakenly bought the core duo processor instead of the core 2 duo one. The cure duo laptop costs $1945 while the core 2 duo laptop costs $1999. Both use win vista business edition.

Is it worth the change?

Sidetrack abit, but about the same as core2duo and core duo turion 64×2 ? is it the same as core2duo?

2 from different camp. architecture quite similar except for the number of threads, and the loation of the memory controller (intel at the mobo chipset, AMD inside the processor itself). Of course power consumption in watts, voltage, transistors in nanometer size etc all the differences Cool
