Microsoft has been attacked for its use of the Vista name by a
French man, who claims to have registered the word as the name for
a new TV channel.
Philippe Gildas says he registered the trademark Vista in the
autumn of 2003, and has lodged an official complaint with
Microsoft. It was intended to be the name of a number of media
outlets aimed at the 'older citizen'.
According to French website PC Inpact, Gildas is after either an
amicable settlement or will be looking to push for a lawsuit.
"I deposited the mark with the autumn 2003 in all the fields of the
intellectual property of 'entertainment', and of the media: out of
press, in TV, on the Web, etc. Indeed, my chain 'Vista', that I
launch on CanalSat and all the cablo-operators on November 15, is
not a project left the hat," he said. "One had already tried the
blow four years ago. That loupe because we were not ready, but we
had deposited the name."
