My laptop is acer travelmate 3280.. Is it true that it will automatically shutdown itself if it gets too hot? I played game and it just shuts down automatically halfway.. Dulan leh..

my travelmate didnt face this prob leh. but the notebook will get very hot after a while. wonder if its the fan’s prob

you can try downloading some temperature monitoring program like Everest or Speedfan.Then monitor the temperature during gameplay to confirm whether it is overheating Wink

my laptop won't shutdown, but it will suddenly get super laggy making it impossible to play.

ur internal fan could be spoilt, and also when u play, place ur lappy on something at the 2 sides of it, so that there is air circulation in the middle at the btm of ur lappy, it at least makes mine more durable in games. don;t place ur lappy straight onto the table.

Yes. In fact, for all computers.

If you are just using the battery without any power supplied to it, it will shut down after a while, once the battery life is used up.

This may be due to the thin-ness of your laptop, I have a slim acer laptop myself, centrino model 2 years back... And after 1hour of games it can fry eggs, I wont wish to really try it too Laughing

Oyea, you can try a laptop cooling pad which uses usb, it features a usb hub sometimes too.
I'm going to try my max temperature using SpeedFan.

if you are sure the problem is caused by overheat, then get some cooling stuff, blast the air-con in your room.

Thanks for all the replies! Surprised I'm now playing under aircon haha damn the electricity bill is gonna be the skies this month.. Hmm.. I think I better send it for a check with my school tech support..

Anyway, any idea what could be a problem when there is an "error sound" at the start of my start up? Nothing happens but its just that weird error sound everytime I start up my laptop to sign in my username and password..

Where can I download that temperature monitoring program thingie? Thanks!

When entering your username and password, be careful not to press any other buttons after pressing Enter, otherwise it will generate a beep sound.

No I didn't press anything.. Definitely an error sound.. I don't know.. Maybe something that usually starts up together with the start up encountered an error? How to check any idea?

I think the technician enabled the sound...

Most laptops by default have this option turned off. But some technicians turn this option on. It's hardwired... so you can't turn it off.
