help!! regarding sata harddisc configuration

i intend to upgrade my com with new motherboard and cpu but i see that nowadays board only have one one IDE port .if i want to use IDE harddisc then where am i going to plug in the cable for the cd rom and writer cable . if there is no other way , is sata harddisc easy to configure ? is it plug and play as wat IDE does ? can some pro here pls give some advice and teach me how to configure sata harddisc .thanxs . Very Happy

I am not sure why you want to get a new motherboard with all the new features and yet do not want to make use of the very basic SATA connectivity. Mayit is because you still have a working ATA hard disk?

Not to worry. If you just have an ooptical drive you can use an ATA hard disk together with it. The ribbon cable that fans out has 2 connection as generic to all IDE interfaces. One primary one secondary so you can connect the optical drive to be secondary as it reads from the primary ATA drive.
