Hardware as in cards.
Graphics card, sound card, whatever card you are using. Those are
usually the cause of problems because Windows drivers don't suit
them.
Old IBM keyboard - a reminder. IBM itself also produces computers,
and the hardware that comes with it might be using propriety
drivers of which Microsoft has no access to. Try using a common
keyboard (brandless, with brand, don't care, just as long as it's
not IBM).
Don't use an IBM mouse as well, it probably has the same
effects.
