Jader SG Hello, I am facing a problem now. I have just installed Vista Business on one of my company's machine. However, I have problems with accessing the share files of one of the XP machines. It keeps on saying that I do have permissions to access to the folders. Other XP machines are ok though. I have checked the local security policies of that particular XP machines and it's correct as i have chosen everyone having the access. Please advice what could be the problem. Please provide the link if such a thread has already existed. Thanks and sorry for the trouble caused.
manyu882 SG It keeps on saying that I do have permissions to access to the folders ensure that they have the same network group name
MrSotong SG Hi I got two comps running Home premium erm I had experience this problem b4 but I had not tried it with Winxp B4 erm first : Winxp may not work for Vista in file sharing , Impossible Second : You are not the admin hence cannot Thrid : Follow this instruction for both Vista and Winxp Start > network [You can see the computer's name , if not you can't share files not in the same network ,rounter, maybe ? ] > click "Network and Sharing center > Make sure Network discovery , File sharing , Public folder sharing , printer sharing , media sharing is ON ~! BUT YOU MUST SWITCH OFF THE PASSWORD PROTECTED SHARING . And when you click on the network and a yellow bar pop out saying that your network discovery is not on kindly right click on it and allow it . Tips Beware of UAC blocking it [ Quite annoying ] I dunnoe abt Winxp maybe settings in Winxp is incorrect Though the above method may decrease your security , it shld be ok Lukzzz
thoreldan SG ya using w2k3 as dc? in a domain enviroment...all local policy will be overwritten by domain policy
Jader SG MrSotong, I have tried the methods which you have taught me. It still doesn't work. Strangely, only that particular machine doesn't work.
Jader SG It is an NT4 domain. Manged to join the domain by adding the Vista PC name into the NT Server.
