actually i wonder can u when u com starts, at the bios, press F8 to boot in safe mode, then there, create an admin acc for urself? but if got password must...

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Type in administrator as the username and try to log in. That's the most powerful user in XP.

If can log in, then you try to change the settings as posted, starting from Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management step.

Refugees SG

freaking sh*t. cannot. argh, damn frustrated. okay, if i can't add a user what about changing the view? now the User Accounts settings totally different from my desktop. I prefer the one on my desktop. Sad

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Log back in to your user account.

Refugees SG

Did. I'm using my laptop to post now. What should i do next? Sad

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Run out of ideas liao. If SP want to prevent you from doing anything, they can.

Refugees SG

Thats bad. Feel like reformatting my laptop. Does that helps? But why do SP want to change my settings? Needed for my schoolwork?

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Yes. Especially when you need to download softwares and install.

This will verify that you are part of the school and they will allow you to download and use the softwares legally.

Refugees SG

Argh... too bad then. Sad going to get a wireless modem/router tomorrow. Recommend me any brand? So i go Funan and ask straightaway don't need waste so much time.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

3Com or Dlink.

Refugees SG

Below $100?

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Yes. Look for this shop: Laser Distribution.

Refugees SG

At Funan? Are the people there friendly? Gonna ask lots of question when i'm there. Is there a wireless modem out there? If there is it will be so much easier. Install the modem and my laptop can go wireless.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Yes. They have a shop at both Funan and Sim Lim.

I know the Sim Lim guys are friendly, not sure for Funan.

If you really want to ask questions, the Laser Distribution guys at Sim Lim are friendlier.

There's a wireless modem for both Dlink and 3Com. 3Com costs $95. Not sure for Dlink. Check their pricing at Hardwarezone.

Refugees SG

So the wireless modem will be easier than the router? Just plug in install and i can go wireless?

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Yes. But as per usual, you will need to configure.

gigabyte14 SG

and they usually help you configure.

Refugees SG

Arrrgh! Now i can’t open task manager. Press CLTR+ALT+DEL and task manager tab was not available for clicking. what happened?

SexyChin SG

Just reformat your lappy.

I am not sure about SP, but NUS installs lots of bloatware and giving you lots of restriction in their lappies.

Refugees SG

How come the task manager tab is not available for clicking?

Refugees SG

They say Task Manager have been disabled by Administrators
