always look at the file size before downloading the file. If the file in .zip or .rar format, best if you scan it first before opening it. Limewire will slow...

davidche SG

the viruses in the corrupted files goes into your computer system in the process of downloading.

Thus it is no use trying to scan the file after you finished download.

Luckily for my norton, or my comp would be infected with trojan right now.

SexyChin SG

Why tell us things that we already know?

ChocolateBar SG

How does your norton stop the trojan?

all p2p search engine will kenna virus one day or another

i use bearshare before.....

kenna virus so many times already

its best to use bittorrent

xShevchenkox SG

but mayi the thread above claims that ares is a clean p2p sharing program Rolling Eyes

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Bearshare is a spyware-infected P2P program.

Just look at the link I've given.

allentyb SG

really depends on what you download...........

simple as that

bittorrent is the safest

i use utorrent to download software

then bitcomet for...........

but alot of tracker is banning bitcomet............

if you download crack file....... then most of them will be detected as spyware by your firewall, if i am not wrong

and there is a website, i use to download crack file

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Yes. It's a clean P2P program, but what you download is not guaranteed to be.

Remember, you are sharing files. The person who shared the file with you may have his/her files infected without them knowing and you may have unknowingly download viruses while sharing files with him/her.

Another thing is that viruses can spread via P2P very fast, due to the number of people connecting to a network on any day, any time. It's numbered by the millions, the chances are very high.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

You are contradicting yourself. You say all P2P will kena virus some day, yet you say Bittorrent is the safest.

If you aren't an advertiser, I don't know what you are.

xShevchenkox SG

but mayi ah…everytime l download sumtinz from ares..l will use avg scan..and it shows no threats at all, iszit okie? l scan everytime before opening the files

but mayi ah…everytime l download sumtinz from ares..l will use avg scan..and it shows no threats at all, iszit okie? l scan everytime before opening the files

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Yup. But if you are unsure, you can use multiple scanners.

Jotti and Virus Total are two sites that I frequently to scan single files with multiple scanners, to be sure that there are no harmful files.

allentyb SG

i am not contradicting myself,

P2P will kenna virus, one day or another

and i did mention that, it really depends on what you download

if you download video clips through P2P, then you will not know which source, you are downloading from, after all, its peer to peer

and i mention that bittorrent is the safest, but i never said, that it will not kenna virus at all

xShevchenkox SG

oh so the website helps us scan our things..iszit go to the website and it scans for us?

allentyb SG

at least, when i download the torrent from certain website, at least, their tracker is safe, and furthermore, if i go and download p o r n, chances of me, kenna virus is high

i don't trust search engine like ares or others, simple as that

so is my explanation, clear enough for you

ndmmxiaomayi SG

It only scans one file.

It's good when you suspect that the file is infected with virus or is unsure if the file is infected.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Between safest and not getting any virus, it's very misleading.

Bittorrent is not safest, so do all P2P programs. I will never recommend anyone to use P2P programs unless necessary or if P2P is being used the right way - that is to share files among your known circle of friends or if your work is under GNU/CC license.
