i din know maple and ps need so much procesing power and your ego won't last, sooner or later, your quadcore will be superceded by octetcore or wadever core...

As you all know, I'm building a new computer and I'll be going down to SLS really soon and get my new computer built.

I would gladly appreciate for your help by voting for me with reason why is your vote given to that specification, as I'm still very new to this kind of things, so please guide me along and pardon my ignorance of hardware stuff.

choose this mobo cos its the minimal to support the below products.
C2D because its quite resonable among all c2d. u have to pay another $50 just for additional 0.27ghz which makes a little difference.

Asus EN7900GS 256M PCIE=$278
reasonable price
contains DDR3 memory which can clock at 1440mhz. with same reason, cost alot to updgrade a little better speed/graphic which makes minor difference.

Seagate 320G 7200rpm / 16m cache =$148
well same reason, cos alot more per GB just to upsize.

2x kingston 1gb(667mhz) =$180
maximum clock speed mobo can support, and also, 800mhz cost 20-30 dollars more. why upgrade mobo and ram just for a minor speed difference? 2 rams its because right now, no need so much ram. if u buy now its wasting money. electronics will depreciate its value when new technolgy comes in.

If you ask me, I say after your choose either one of the choices, get another identical hard disk and put them in RAID mode.

if i have anything to contribute,it is dun buy from videopro,their stuff are parallel inported so they sell cheaper but cos of it,their stuff’s warranty are not supported by the local distro.

lol i not sure whether they do PI. but however how can he prove? and also, the warrenty are supported..my friend just got his astone hdd fixed in this country.

edit. his is international warranty
if its PI, then they would have to help u to ship out and repair in the product's motherland. those brands with no service centre here bo bian la... have to ship out to repair also. those with international warrenty can just repair here.

well, if u are fine with it, u can go ahead. if Vid pro doing PI will ship in lots of stocks. think for the bright side. no stock because lot of people buying Twisted Evil

There are different types of RAID. Here are some brief explanation for different types of RAID. (Taken from Wikipedia)

RAID 0: Striped Set without parity: provides improved performance and additional storage but no fault tolerance from disk errors or disk failure. Any disk failure destroys the array.

RAID 1: Mirrored Set without parity: provides fault tolerance from disk errors and single disk failure. Increased read performance occurs when using a multi-threaded operating system that supports split seeks, very small performance reduction when writing. Array continues to operate with one failed drive.

RAID 0+1: Striped Set + Mirrored Set (4 disk minimum) provides fault tolerance and improved performance but increases complexity. Array continues to operate with one failed drive.

RAID 3/4: Striped with Dedicated Parity Provides improved performance and fault tolerance, no performance penalty. Depending upon the implementation, dedicated parity could allow the parity drive to fail and operation will continue without parity.

RAID 5: Striped Set with Distributed Parity Distributed parity requires all drives to be present to operate; drive failure requires replacement, but the array is not destroyed by a single drive failure.

RAID 6: Striped Set with Dual Distributed Parity Provides fault tolerance from two drive failures; array continues to operate with up to two failed drives. This makes larger RAID groups more practical.

In order for RAID to work you will need 2 Hard Disk, best if possible, 2 same identical Hard Disk. Overall, RAID can help to increase the performance of your your Hard Disk.

What RAID setting can you use depends on the motherboard you buy.

well if item is international warranty with no local distro,then repair timing,exchange timing everything sure to take more time than if item is supported by local distro.So well if you have no problem waiting if something happen to the item and have a back up comp,then yup you can say no disadvantage.For me,i rather not.
