Hi Guys..., how do i removed the BackUp OS created by TuneUp Utilities 2006...??? Any help on this would be deeply appreciated, and thanks in advance...

It's in boot.ini

But I would recommend not to touch it unless you know how to edit it. If you edit wrongly, reformat is on the way.

if u did it wrongly, u can use XP cd and build back your boot.ini

i believe ts wants to remove the entire backup, which editing the mbr wont accomplish

Wait, you edit the MBR for?

Boot.ini file and MBR are two different things. And Windows don't even allow you touch the MBR.

Anyway, threadstarter, can you locate your boot.ini file and post here?

It's in the root of C drive or wherever Windows is installed

Take mine as example:

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /nonexecute=optin /fastdetect
C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons

The bolded parts - show that Recovery Console is installed. To remove, just delete this line.

In your case, it should be replaced with Tuneup Utilities.

Also delete the Tuneup folder.

Thanks for the help, guys. Googled on matters regarding this Boot.INI file and successfully fixed it.
