MooKu SG Firstly, may Norton close down this year. Now we get down to business. Does anyone know how I can stop getting these annoying pop-up alerts from Norton Personal Firewall? I re-installed my WLM last night and this thing has been popping out for no reason, even when I'm not engaged in any conversations. My head is going to split open soon!!!
MooKu SG I don't know how to... I can't find anything that's blocking or monitoring WLM's activity in any lists of programs. And it came out ONLY AFTER I REINSTALLED MY MSN last night because it was darned abcxyzed getting cranky. Don't ask me what I clicked during installation... I wasn't really looking closely and just clicked around.
ndmmxiaomayi SG I don't know how to use Norton. Can you open Norton's main application for us to see?
ndmmxiaomayi SG Hmm... the nearest guide that I found is for configuring a VPN. http://its.ucsf.edu/information/network/vpn/nortel/config/npf/index.jsp Instead of clicking on the Networking tab, click on the Programs tab. MSN Messenger should be listed there. Find something similar to Trusted zones, if unsure, just screenshot the Programs tab.
MooKu SG What's a VPN? There aren't any programs listed under the tab... ... I shouldn't have reinstalled it.
ndmmxiaomayi SG No no, not the Networking tab. Click on the Programs tab. If you don't mind waiting, I go and install and show you.
MooKu SG Yeah... Anyway, I just went and removed all of them... Now to wait and see if there's any prompt asking me to permit WLM...
StarPuppy SG *raises hand* i see that she has 3 MSN messenger sometimes certain firewall will give problems because they program has changed or the program is at another directory...so maybe she has to remove them all and add again? ZA firewall will have this kind of problem.....they dun check their list if the program was installed before
ndmmxiaomayi SG Hmm... either Norton screwed up, or your WLM is infected, that's why it keeps prompting you.
MooKu SG No... actually there was more. Probably 5 or 6. Just now a pop-up appeared to ask for permission... I selected "Permit" and checked the "Always use this action" box. I guess... now to wait and see if it appears again...
StarPuppy SG could the Auto program control be the one giving problem..altho she added into the list?
MooKu SG I don't know if it worked... but thanks for all the help so far. If the alert still comes up, I'll post here again... Thanks mayi, thanks puppy...
