I have a laptop with two DDR SDRAM slots. The upper slot it has
Twinmos PC2700 CL2.5 256MB, but system will report 225MB.
The other is the laptop provided Infineon 256MB 333 CL2.5
RAM.
Strangely my total RAM reported in My Computer is 480MB, instead of
512MB.
I have done dxdiag check it was 478MB total. What has happened to
the other 30MB from Twinmos. Does anyone else experienced this? And
what is the difference between ddr sdram and ddr sodimm?
Also when I switched the slots of RAM, such as RAM from slot 1 I
put in slot 2 and that from slot 2 into slot 1, I cannot start my
com and it reveal a blank screen. WTH? anyone knows what is the
reason? I ascertain because I boot from hibernation.
I want to upgrade RAM on the coming IT fair but please help cause I
am afraid of buying a RAM which I cannot use with my com. Can
anyone know the average price of a 512MB or 1GB RAM? Also, will
some memory be deducted from it?
