RAM? How to increase it?

Hi, sorry if i’m asking a silly question to u tech savvy guys here, but i really need to find out. I have a 128 ram on my old PC. Only it’s RAM is low, the other features are okay, 2.8Ghz intel, intel graphics card blablabla. So i want to buy more RAM. Do shops sell those which is like thumbdrive? Just plug into USB? Cos i don’t want to open CPU. If they do, for a 512MB, how much would it cost?

What type of RAM are you using?

As far as I know, there's no such thing as thumbdrive RAM on sale, although it has been reported to have been invented.

Thumbdrive can be used as ram, if you are using Vista.

do you have the motherboard manual? tell us the model of your motherboard becaue not all types of ram can fit or competible with your motherboard

If branded PC (like HP, IBM, Acer, etc), go to their website to find out.

If PC is DIY, dig out your receipt.

If you lost the receipt or can't find your motherboard model on the manufacturer's website, install Belarc Advisor.

Double click to run it, it will analyze your system. Post back the results.

I checked my instruction manual, it says "Memory:256MB PC2100DDR" and Motherboard Specifications, MS-6577 (Giovani, Giovani2)...any use?

Yes.

When you go and buy the RAM, tell the shopkeeper you want a PC2100 or PC2700 RAM.

Your motherboard can only support up to 2GB of RAM (1GB on each slot)
