Linksys... good for newbies.

I always have a habit of sourcing out distributors instead of buying from retailers because it's cheaper. Laughing

For Sim Lim:

Laser Distribution has got good service and it's cheap enough.

Fuwell has got good service and they are knowledgeable enough. As a retailer, expect it to be slightly more expensive.

For Funan:

I find it too expensive. Neither is services good enough, maybe I'm just unlucky. Laughing

Actually my router has not been working well.

I contacted Aztech and support said it might be a power adaptor problem. They asked me to bring it to Ubi for a check.

The router isn't under warranty because the person who set up the router didn't mail it. Rolling Eyes

And so my sister was saying I might as well buy a new router since the current one is about 2 years old already...

Hmm Linksys... hmm ok.

Are there many kinds of routers? Razz

erm linksys no good, d-link also no good.

both routers use awhile only will get erratic signal, disconnection and no internet access even if the signal is 100%

hi you can get from a shop call fuwell... both sim lim and funan is selling the same prices. i will recommand u linksys as it very user friendly. easy to configure. Laughing

To answer your question, I don't know.

As far as I know, I only know of two kinds. One is the wireless type (you can turned it to wired if you want to)

The other one is a router integrated with a modem, the one I'm currently using.

i lazy to go ubi... somemore no warranty, so if i have to repair it, it would make better sense to buy a new one..... erm, right? how much does a router cost? Embarassed

so what brand is good? i only know of Aztech and Netgear. Neutral

Linksys ar... quite true.

D-link no idea, never use before.

I found Netgear to be stable, but recently it seems to have gone haywire.

The 3Com that I'm using now is pretty reliable, so is Aztec. Trying to find a Prolink router to test, but nobody sponsors. Laughing

2Wire signals are super strong...

A modem will need connect to the phone, dials out to your ISP before connecting to the Net.

Oh so mine comes with modem and got wireless/wired option.... I think?

Currently the one I'm using now, it's connected to a phone line, wireless turned on and connected to my PC so I don't have to go wireless.

So if I buy a new one, do I have to get one with a modem too?
If I buy one without a modem, does that mean I can cancel that phone line?
