Orange*Asterisk SG check who is connected to my router. using my internet illegally lor.. i wanna report him to the police before i pwprotect my router . my internet connection spd have a great diff when i have my router off. so i'm suspecting.
Orange*Asterisk SG i wanna catch the thief before i do it. if i don't do it who will do it... later tat person go use another guy router how? i scanned my area and found a few others have their router unprotected too.
BenBenDeZhu SG although its illegal in sg, the original design of the system is to welcome people to use it _ it is yur own responsibility to pw protect it if u dont wan ppl coming in. i think the law for mooching is abit flawed.
ndmmxiaomayi SG It should be somewhere in your router's settings. Try typing in 192.168.1.1 and navigate through the pages. If you see others inside (other than you yourself and your family members), then you know someone is tapping. Linksys routers made this easy... Compex not sure.
ndmmxiaomayi SG The laws are flawed all right. Between educated users, ignorant users, cunning users and lazy users, it's very hard to tell.
manyu882 SG true but still there's a way to hack through it. hackers will use sniffers + mac id spoofer
manyu882 SG ok.. this is how i check it.. i'm using linkysys WRT54GL. 1. make your router DHCP enabled... so that your router assigns IP. 2. go to status>local network.DHCP client table.. and there u will see a list of people connecting to your network 3. to see if the its other's tapping, u can see it by their MAC id. each networking device has its own unique MAC id. this can be found in start>run>cmd then a command prompt will come out.. input: ipconfig/all. you will see your MIC id something like "physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-16-6F-60-D8-3E". so if the router show's different mac id compared to your com, INTRUDER!! Note: this method will not work if the intruder uses static IP adress. if they use, Their IP wont appear in DHCP table you can enable logging... i nv try this before.. but u can see whats the outcome when u open the log.. hopefully it helps.. but must warn u first.. will lag your router by a bit
