What I suggest is you go here www.superantispyware.com and
install the free version. Then check for updates to the program to
make sure its up-to-date.
Then, restart the comp and go into safe mode. You know just before
the Windows XP logo come out (the one with the bar moving) press
F8.
Select Safe Mode.
Then launch Superantispyware and scan the system see what it
finds.
Spyware Quake is listed as a rouge antispyware product meaning its
bluff people one lah, "anti-spyware" product. Read about it here:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
If you can save the results of the scan, try to post it back here.
Be careful and avoid such programs again in the future. Also, make
sure you make it a good habit to check Windows Update periodically
for updates.
