Microsoft to rip your head off if you pirate Vista
Sort of

By INQUIRER staff: Wednesday 04 October 2006, 15:13

SOFTWARE FIRM Microsoft said that server and desktop versions of Vista will have a protection scheme to shut down people who try to use counterfeit versions of the operating system.
The software protection scheme will limit features of Vista counterfeit software. If a legit product key is not activated in 30 days, Microsoft Vista will go into "reduced functionality mode".

Now we know what you're thinking, but this is what Microsoft means. Vista will let you use a browser but not all the time. Microsoft said: "Windows Vista will have a reduced functionality mode but one that is enhanced."

The screen will show a little sign saying "this copy of Windows is not genuine", while Aero won't work and the ability to use a PC will be impaired.

oh well i guess we just have to wait awhile for the work around.

bu the main thing is the bugs they will introduce and the number of security loopholes they have

I stick to XP and that’s it. I have no money to upgrade my PC components just to accommodate to Vista.

OSX, here I come!

There's not a day that goes by without Microsoft urging me to buy an Apple machine on my next upgrade.

ditzy SG

If they liddat say then we don't upgrade to vista lor. xp forever lor, what can they do? Laughing

life-rockz SG

Razz Razz

ndmmxiaomayi SG

No more updates lor. Force you to upgrade. Simple. They did that to Windows 95, 98, ME and XP SP1.

So it leaves your PC vulnerable to attacks.

ditzy SG

Who wants to attack me when everyone else is focusing on attacking vista? Laughing

right here on tech.sgforums you will hear this...

i heard people who bought those new apple iBooks with dual operating system of Mac and XP have to be wary...the XP license will only be valid till 2007 or 2008...afterwards...you might have to uninstall the XP os...

heard it as a rumour anyway... Embarassed

nightzip SG

ok, the problem is that sooner or later you NEED to upgrade from XP to Vista cuz the cap limit of 4GB for 32-bit XP will reach sooner...as games need more memory, faster speed, or simulations, CAD programs, etc etc....

then you need to take up 64-bit for faster FSB, memory, etc... Laughing

LazerLordz SG

I'm waiting for Leopard OSX to come out. Laughing
