Why my C drive seldom increase in memory space?

For example I have 40GB hard drive space, I copy 1 GB of files to my com, it becomes 39GB. I deleted and also from my recycle bin the 1 GB files I copied, but the disk space still remain 39GB, even after 45 mins of defragmentation and chkdsk procedure, it’s still 39GB. This happens quite often to my HP computer, why?!

I restarted my com 3 times already, still same. This has been happening for years, wonder if have patch for HP computers, but not that I heard of.

it is in your Recyle Bin…go to there to delete it to recover your lost 1GB

Windows keeps a lot of deleted files somewhere... Laughing

That's why you have file recovery apps which will do the recover for you.

don't giv an example of a 1gig difference found. please post the screen shots of your problem by simulating a before and after record of your drive partition space.

deleting files only delete the file name address so that windows will not be able to access the data.

let me tell you a story:-
a bulldozer has a driver that is programme to run down any house without a door. a postman will deliver and collect post and mail at the door. as such all new houses built in the neighbour hood has to have a door inorder to communicate with one another and to prevent their houses from been run down.

one day one family decided to move and after taking all their precious belongings they removed the door and left. the next day the bulldozer came and see ing no door with the empty house the operator ran it down.

1 mb = 1024 kb
1 kb = 1024 byte
1 byte = 8 bit

So there's nothing wrong with your 40GB hdd.

Some hdd manufacturers sell their hdd as GB while some gig.
For example a Seagte 80GB and a WD raptor 74gig has the same capacity..well except the seek, read and write time and motor spin speed different.
