All computers bought from vendors will come pre-installed with the OS, but the vendors will give you the recovery CD only. You have to pay extra to ask for the installation CD.

Only DIY computers aren't. They either use pirated OS or legitimate OS bought from Microsoft directly or Microsoft certified shops.

But virus writers can do everything to you. Just don't come crying for help because Microsoft blocked you from updating as you are using fake OS. Laughing

Most OS disc came with computers are just for recovery on that machine. However, some companies still offers an option where you can pay a small fee for a full OS package disc.

However, unless u purchase a mass lisense, i think even if you can, you are only legally right to install 1 copy to 1 computer. Using 1 copy of windows on more than 1 computer at the same time might place ur OS in Microsoft's blacklist, thus marking it as illegal and deprived u all your rights to enjoy security upgrades.

Then you can try installing. Just to make sure, check your manual that it is an INSTALLATION CD, not RECOVERY CD.

As far as i know, 90% of the laptops that only provides you with a recovery disc will have a product key sticker on the laptop itself. Having a product key or not does not decide the ways you can install ur copy of Windows.

I used my acer desktop Windows XP disc for my dad's laptop (that comes with Linux pre-installed) and it installs and works perfectly fine. Go figure Cool

i get the cd key from my school.. Twisted Evil

and install pirated one, either via download or borrow.. Laughing
