anyone using 8ms lcd monitors for rpg games?

do u feel the motion is not very smooth?

Gordonator SG

what RPG are we talking about here?

ditzy SG

I won't even consider an lcd monitor that has 6ms+ response time. Laughing There are lcd monitors that can do below 1ms available, but they ain't cheap.

like cs, dod etc

that 1 ms panel can share link any1

newmanmback SG

i dun know if RPGs or FPSs are more sensitive to response time of LCDs

berll SG

how about a 2ms one? Laughing

lpx88 SG

me usin 3ms Mr. Green

dark_snowboy SG

how to check my lcd monitor how many ms? Laughing

nightzip SG

huh??? i thought most monitors refreshes at 60Hz or at most up to 95Hz?

call ask manufacturer or dealer's quote the model will get answer loh
got manufacturere webbie check the model aginst specification
user manual with the panel should state also most the time
com here forum ask may get link to spec
but sometimes some models response time and other specs also various from source to source so better check properly

what i little confuse with the question leh

here's what's response time
http://tv.about.com/od/glossary/g/responsetime.htm

here's what's fps (frame rates/ per sec and not FPS - first person shooters)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_%28film%29

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frames_per_second

here's what's refresh rate of LCD's about
http://www.techterms.org/definition/refreshrate

basically response time has to do with the transistors ability to change its color from white-gray-black and back since its the basic component to reproduce images on the screen.

frames per second (fps) is the number of static pic chained in series at per second (every 1 second) time rate. imagine 100 jpegs you have and when you print them out and tie them up like a book prior to flipping them over to produce a quick short motion pic, if you have more than 100 jpegs then the motion picture quality improves. the desirable spec is 24 fps although in action movies we may want more than 24 or what the human eye can perceive in animation or video production or editing.

refresh rates of LCDs is the frequency at which the display redraws. even though our webpage may not change when we scroll onto a level and start reading or admiraing the content, signals are constantly exchanged between the pprocessor, graphics card and over to the display panels. Of course we would want a desirable or high refresh rate in this instance too. try taking a photo or capturing a motion pic when you switch on your LCD...try doing the same with a crt...you will notices the results show the cRT with floating lines over the screen that indicates it has a lower refresh rate as compared to a LCD. note that LCDs have vertical and horizontal refersh rates specs too

hope more has been introduced about LCDs hehe Mr. Green

berll SG

wait ah, u play what games with it first? Razz

i using 8ms play cs and bf2, see already very giddy Laughing

newmanmback SG

my panel's a 20ms...no issue so far...but i think graphics card's a bottleneck esp for avid gamers Mr. Green

Gordonator SG

i don't play games now. kinda grew out of it already.

my brother's playing Dota, star was knight of the republic 2 and Ragnarok. no complains from him.

berll SG

hmm maybe those games dosen't really require fast action

anyway thanks Very Happy
