USB 2.0 CardBus

Anyone here think that me just fried my USB 2.0 CardBus?

Me plugged in my portable harddisk into one of the USB ports on the card, and it doesn't work anymore and it hangs my laptop...

There's an error message saying Windows is unable to detect the device due to power surge to your PCI CardBus interface...

The power surge probably damage your USB circuit board.

Let's say if my portable harddisk needs a supply of 5V to work, and by plugging it into a USB 2.0 CardBus which can supply 3V max, will the CardBus be fried in the sense that due to insufficient output supply?

Normally USB devices get its power from the MB, but how about add-on PC Card?

PC cards get their power supply from motherboard. So, by shorting the PC card, you could short the motherboard as well.

Did a check on my MB of my laptop... The PC Card slot still in working condition, can detect my 1394 PC Card, my MS PC Card Adapter and my CF PC Card Adapter... Just that my USB PC Card doesn't work anymore...

If me were to get a new PC Card, which brand would you recommend?

Me bought my fried card last year Sept 05...
