i would monitor it for the next few days...bcos most likely it will come back, as it may be hiding in ur pc somewhere...i had that problem before...

i cannot recall how i managed to remove it, but i googled on the problem, just do a search on something like `gambling internet pharmacy spyware' (the words that are on the toolbar) and u will see ways on how to remove it permanently. i remembered that it involves some registry editing and deleting some files manually. hope this helps...

Gordonator SG

got the toolbar problem solved but now another problem pops up.

this morning when i go into google and yahoo and search for 'SCDF' i clieck on the 1st result, but instead of going into the SCDF page, i got directed into another page (pic below).

i click back again anc click on the link and it show me this again. it is only by clicking back again and clicking the link again that i finally got into SCDF page.

meaning to say the 1st 2 attempts i click on the google or yahoo result, it'll show me the below, only for the 3rd attempt that i can finally go into the correct page.

it's very annoying. spyware again? Confused

Browser Hijack... probably using IE Helper Objects...

Scan. Don't limit yourself to one antispyware. Use Search&Destroy, Windows Defender (Microsoft Antispyware), Ad-Aware, Spyware Doctor etc. I have around 10 of such programs, as different antispyware can clear different types.

alexkusu SG

webroot spysweeper + nod32

spybot n adaware reaaly sucks

Gordonator SG

well, installed the IE6 sevice pack 1, for the moment, everything seems fine. not sure whether it will come back again or not? Rolling Eyes

Browser hijacking. Do as launtpc suggest.

Someone surfing too much porn... Laughing

Anyway, not all spyware and be removed by antispywares. Some bear worse characteristics. I saw one that hijacked the bootup of XP, and when you try and remove it XP won't boot again. Shocked

I think we should start a thread to blacklist sites known/suspected to contain spyware, browser hijackers etc.. for the benefit of everyone.

launtpc SG

Most will be porn sites, won't be suitable to place here. Laughing

And software crack sites, too. Cheat, hack sites too. Very Happy

So it's actually a form of punishment too.

But the people from the websites get paid $ for every spyware infection! Evil or Very Mad

Let's put them out of business! Smile

chanff8 SG

Impossible and dangerous to the members here

maggot SG

Ok usually there is also a XXX.DLL in your system to enable it or maybe a very small exe file...

Kana a more advance type which writes a string in your registery to make your own internet explorer turns against you Laughing

Try using more scans available...don't just use a few only if you love to surf such sites Embarassed

Gordonator SG

are there any good spyware remover to recommend, i'm using ad-ware and spybot but they don't seems to help me solve this google/yahoo search problem.

strange, last time these kind of things don't happens to me now it does... Confused

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Try Spyware Doctor and Webroot Spysweeper.

See this thread

Gordonator SG

from the Spyware Doctor website, it says trial version only do scanning. does it remove the spyware? Question

lpx88 SG

normally i risk and get 'ahem' from c**** sites Embarassed that's why i can use many spyware scan or registry clen-up proggies.. Laughing

Gordonator SG

can't seem to install Spyware Doctor. it'll hang at the end of installation, the page where u click 'finish' to end installation. Neutral Confused

ndmmxiaomayi SG

No. You have to remove them yourself from the results of the scan.
