retrieving data from faulty hdd

one of my hdd developed that nasty scratching sound, such that i can no longer read from it - the system is simply unable to detect it.

and unfortunately, as it always happens, i have quite alot of data in the hdd which is important to me.

anyone knows how i can retrieve them, or who i can approach to get assistance?

During boot up can see your hardisk or not> Go to your PC cmos setup and check if the setting for your primary hardisk set to auto detect or not? Mebbe your CMOS battery low.

Or you can try to run windows setup from cdrom as you will normally then F3 exit to see if can read your "C:\" drive then try to use repair the disk using some of the utilities on the cdrom.

Another way I never do before but I heard normally can try to 'ghost' software to ghost the whole thing over to new hardisk. But you must have the ghost software. Or you can bring to SL there have many shop for this type of services.

Not quite sure if you can retrieve your data back. Should be able to if the problem is not too serious. Some shops in Sim Lim offer this kind of service. You can ask them.

Copy your data to another media like CD so that if your HDD fails again, you can continue working.

i tink its probably damaged....
gt to manual get the info out n dat u need experts which gonna cost quite a bit dependin on the damage...

Yea I heard some shops in Funan offer this kind of service. The amount cost depends on the capacity of your hard disk

retrieve data will cost a bomb though. You kena hard disk crash. The reader arm contacted with the disk plates due to dust or some particles or becos of a sudden shock, causing it to scratch the disk plate.

Get ur data recovered by the specialists. They know hdd better than normal users and has specific industrial tools for it as well
